What this site collects
- Your email address — only if you sign up for Vitals, my Sunday newsletter. That's the only form on the site. No accounts, no passwords, no payments.
- Basic analytics — which pages people visit and how they found the site, if you say yes to the cookie bar (more below).
- Standard server logs — the hosting provider (Vercel) keeps short-lived technical logs, like every host on the internet.
The newsletter (beehiiv)
When you sign up for Vitals, your email goes to beehiiv, the service that sends the newsletter, and they'll send you a welcome email. Your address is used to send you Vitals and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom — one click and you're out, no guilt trip.
Cookies & analytics
I use Google Analytics (GA4) to see how people find the site — but only if you tap Accept on the cookie bar. Say "No thanks" (or say nothing) and Google Analytics never loads and never sets a cookie. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again. Changed your mind? Clear this site's data in your browser settings and the bar comes back.
The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless — it counts page views without cookies or personal identifiers, so there's nothing to opt out of there.
YouTube embeds
Video embeds use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) and only load when you actually press play. Once you do, YouTube's own privacy policy applies to the player.
Who else touches your data
- beehiiv — stores newsletter emails and sends the newsletter.
- Google Analytics — visit stats, only after you accept cookies.
- Vercel — hosts the site; cookieless page-view counts and server logs.
- YouTube / Google Fonts — the video player (when you press play) and the site's fonts load from Google's servers.
That's the whole list. I don't sell your data, I don't run ads on this site, and I don't share your email with sponsors or anyone else.
Deleting your data
Want your email gone completely, not just unsubscribed? Email shaun@jakerosenentertainment.com and it'll be deleted from the newsletter list. Same address for any privacy question.
California residents
Under the CCPA you have the right to know what's collected about you, to ask for it to be deleted, and to not be discriminated against for asking — and this site does not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines it. The email above handles all of it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes up here with a new effective date. This one is effective 2026-09-12.
